In order to get the printer to not give you a "resource required" error, you need to make sure that the media you are using, and configuration in the printer for that tray, and the configuration on the software you are using is the same.

For example, If you put a white plain paper on tray #4, with a 11x17 size, you need to make sure the printer has that setting for that tray. To bring up the setting dialogue for a given tray, just open and close that tray and wait a couple of seconds. The setting screen will appear on the printer display.

Using the same example above, if, after configuring the printer to the right paper, tried to print with the software setting at 8.5 x 10" paper size, or it is set to something other than the plain paper, the printer will not print.
